The Laser Open meeting was held on Sunday 22^nd April and a total of 16 dinghy’s turned out with 9 Nantwich and 7 visitors taking part. A full report is to be issued in the Doddington Post and the final results are published on the club Web Site under the “Open Meetings” heading under the “Fleet” tab.

We had 3 very good races with varying wind conditions providing a real test. A false start and recall in the third race meant a start under Black Flag control in the last race with 4 Nantwich boats crossing the line early and being disqualified.

It was interesting to see that most of the Nantwich sailors were beaten by most of the visitor.

The overall winner was Ian Jones of Dove Stones with Richard Goodwin the first Nantwich sailor. The first lady was Wendy Jones and the first junior was Luke McCluskey. Well done to all!

The course is only available to club members. You will need to have paid your club fees.

You will be expected carry out Safety boat duties after you are qualified.

The minimum age is 16 years.

The cost of the course is £30, and this will need to be paid to confirm the booking.

This cost covers the cost of fuel, RYA Course books and certificate registration.

The course starts at 9:00 and finishes at 5:00 on both days.

These boats are to be used by the club to provide the ability for individuals to experience sailing the laser, one of the most popular sailing dinghies throughout the world. The boats will be used during our formal training as well as being available to any other club member who would like to sail this design of boat. Remember that this boat will be sailing for medals in 2 classes at this year’s Olympic Games at Weymouth

N&BCSC use Doddington Lake which is between Nantwich and Newcastle under Lyme near to Bridgemear on the A51. We offer all types of activities from Sail and Powerboat Training, a Junior Club, Taster Sessions and safety boat cover for members on Saturdays and Wednesday Evenings. We have a full racing program with Fleet and Handicap racing from March to December on Sundays and also host Open Meetings and a National Championship for a number of dinghy classes.
