RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling
Would you like to learn how to drive a Powerboat? Level 2 Powerboat Handling is a beginner course getting you started in Powerboating. The 2-day course covers launching, mooring, anchoring and recovery plus all the boat driving skills required for basic competence in a powerboat, with both practical and theory teaching methods that take place on Doddington Pool and the Nantwich Club House. This course has a teaching ratio of 3:1. Course books, certificate, access to club boats and buoyancy aids are provided during the course
The Level 2 Powerboat Handling course has a minimum age of 15 years old, but a commercial endorsement cannot be obtained until the age of 17.

RYA Safety Boat Course
Our Safety Boat course is a 2 day course providing the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers or canoes, or for racing or training activities. It includes rescue techniques and elements of race management and mark laying. This course will cover preparation, boat handling, dinghy rescue, towing, end-of-day procedures, safety, suitability of craft, local factors, communication, rescuing other water users. Predominantly practical, as well as including theory teaching methods, taking place on Doddington Pool and Nantwich Club House. This course has a teaching ratio of 4:1. Course books, certificate, access to club boats and buoyancy aids are provided during the course.
Learners Should have a basic understanding of sailing boats and hold a RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate prior to this course, and have logged 20 hours of Powerboat experience. The Safety Boat course minimum age is 18.

Both the Powerboat and Safety Boat Course has a fixed fee of £80, and is discounted for club members by £115, down from £195. To qualify for the discount, you will need to have paid your club fees and you must agree to carry out Safety boat duties or club duties after you are qualified.
