RYA Powerboat Training Courses

Please note you are not booked on a course until the booking form has been completed and fees have been paid.  Bookings for powerboat courses can only be made by Brian Twiddy.  You will receive a confirmation email when your booking is confirmed.

The cost of the course is £160 and this will need to be paid to confirm the booking. This cost covers the cost of fuel, RYA Course books and certificate registration.The courses are two day practical courses run by a team of volunteer club members who are fully qualified RYA Powerboat Instructors. You will need to attend both days. The course starts at 9:00 and finishes at 5:00 on both days.The courses are run using the club powerboats and also other boats provided for the course.

You will be expected carry out Safety boat duties after you are qualified, members who agree to do so will be able to claim a discount on the course fees.

The courses are only open to club members over 16.

Powerboat Level 2 Course

Dates: 1st and 8th April

Launching and recovery, boat handling, securing to a buoy, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside, man overboard

Safety Boat Course

Dates: 13th and 14th October

It is essential that delegates have an RYA Level 2 Powerboat Certificate and proven driving experience since there Level 2 course.

Delegates run through a number of Safety boat handling scenarios.

Honda RYA Youth RIB images

For under 16’s the Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship takes place at clubs across the UK with weekly training, regional heats and a national final each year at the Southampton Boat Show in September.

A Team from N&BCSC entered for the first time in 2016, with Suzie, Ben and Ewan taking places in North West Area Finals, Details of 2017’s competition will be added soon.
